Transforming CDMO-client collaboration through ELN, near real-time data out and a broad digital transformation strategy
Christina Morey, Software Engineer at KBI Biopharma
KBI Biopharma is transforming client engagement and data transparency in the CDMO space through the creation of PROGRAMview, a digital portal powered by data extracted from various systems including custom IDBS ELN spreadsheets. By standardizing data entry and centralizing outputs in a data lake, the platform enables near real-time client access and eliminates manual PowerPoint reporting—already saving approximately 2,500 hours annually. PROGRAMview is just one of many valuable tools we’re building using IDBS as a data source. Future innovations may include automated reporting, advanced search capabilities, and custom data exploration tools to further enhance scientific workflows and unlock even greater value from IDBS.
System integrations: Seamlessly connect processes, people and platforms
April Pisek, IQVIA Laboratories
This presentation highlights how IQVIA Labs has deployed IDBS products across multiple labs and teams, and integrated it into the full business process—from quoting and finance to scientific reporting, leveraging connections with IDBS E-WorkBook suite, LIMS and in-house systems. We’ll also showcase the impact of Power BI operational analytics using the data across these systems, preview upcoming scientific analytics and automated reporting, and share how IDBS’ out-of-the-box tools like instrument readers and label printing are being utilized. Join us to discover how our comprehensive digital ecosystem is transforming our lab operations and enabling smarter, faster decisions.
The future of validation in the context of AI
Kurt In Albon , Quality Expert
As AI capabilities rapidly evolve, they’re reshaping how software is developed and deployed across the biopharma landscape. But with this innovation comes complexity—especially when it comes to validation. While the core principles of software validation remain unchanged—ensuring systems are reliable, reproducible and fit for purpose—the specifics of how we apply them to AI are still being defined. This presentation explores how the regulatory landscape is working to catch up, what questions organizations should be asking, and how to approach validation in a way that balances quality, innovation and compliance.
Streamlining complex ligand binding assay workflows – integrating robotics with IDBS E-Workbook
Shawn Fernando, Eisai
A fully automated ligand binding assay workflow has been developed to address the complexity of antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) metabolite quantitation, incorporating scalability and precision. Anchored in a custom informatics framework utilizing IDBS Advance Spreadsheets within the E-Workbook ecosystem, the workflow orchestrates sample dilution, immunodepletion, reagent preparation, and plate setup across Hamilton Vantage, KingFisher Apex, and Gyrolab xPand systems. A dynamically generated worklist and barcode-driven reagent tracking enable seamless execution, whether automated or manual. With just 5 µL of matrix, a single dilution enables simultaneous analysis of multiple analytes, reducing reagent consumption and enhancing comparability. Through the integration of informatics and automation, a multi-step process—often susceptible to human error and variability—has been transformed into a scalable and efficient procedure. The presentation will highlight the design and implementation of the robotics integration spreadsheet, with supporting context on assay format, instrumentation, and the informatics infrastructure that enables this workflow. This approach not only streamlines current workflows but lays the foundation for broader assay automation across biologics development.
