Our purpose: ‘To provide the best cloud-based R&D technology and solutions to the world’s most forward-thinking companies, helping them solve global challenges.’
When you go to work each day, we think you should be able to answer these three simple questions: What am I doing? Why am I doing it? And is it really all worth it?
At IDBS we’re very proud of what we do, and like many businesses across the globe, we’ve committed our ‘purpose’ to paper. But how does it actually work in practice?
To an outsider, IDBS might look like just an everyday technology or software company, but the work we do goes far further than just helping companies manage data or go paperless…
Our software plays a pivotal role in scientific discoveries that have the potential to alter the world we live in and the customers who are working with IDBS are doing amazing things, every day. Precision BioSciences is a great example.
It’s a company focused on genome editing, which aims to ‘overcome cancers, cure genetic diseases, and enable the development of safer, more productive food sources’. It’s a mission we are delighted to support.
As you can see in our recent press release, Precision is using E-WorkBook to allow its 35 researchers across three laboratories capture data, collaborate, and make best use of the company’s existing intellectual property. In doing so, Precision is effectively making its labs ‘paperless’. And while the ecological benefits of reduced paper usage are a positive side-effect, the biggest impact for Precision will be the accurate recording of data, and the ability to rapidly search and access historical research.
Which brings us back to what we see as our ‘raison d’etre’ here at IDBS. We aren’t about technology, or software. We’re about linking data to data, data to people, and people to people. In doing that, we’ll support work that will improve the quality of life for millions around the globe. And that’s what gets us out of bed in the morning.
