IDBS celebrates customer successes and product innovations in 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, IDBS celebrates customer successes and key innovations that advanced scientific digital transformation—from launching IDBS Polar Control and accelerating tech transfer to expanding domain-specific workflow accelerators—all aimed at reducing time to ROI and enabling faster, smarter decisions.

We started the year with the launch of Polar Control, a new ‘drug development recipe book’ capability within IDBS Polar, a GxP–compliant enterprise lab informatics software platform with ELN, LES and LIMS capabilities. Polar Control is a purpose-built solution for parameter and process lifecycle management, directly addressing critical inefficiencies in developing process knowledge and managing tech transfer. 

Game-changing technologies such as predictive analytics/AI run on high volumes of high-quality data. We recognized our customers’ need to ensure that high-quality data from a wide variety of sources flows securely into our platform, where the data can be enriched and contextualized within our data backbone to gain actionable insights.  

IDBS has successfully delivered projects that included 300+ proven integrations with instruments and systems, underpinned by formats from simple text file (CSV, TXT), to generic standards-based connectors (OPC, SQL/JDBC, WebSocket) and comprehensive REST APIs (JSON, XML). 

In 2025 we launched a new Polar platform integration framework which supports the automated movement of bigger data sets in a single transaction, allowing for more data types and formats and simplifying the management and configuration needs for integration. The first use case that was presented at the i³ user group meeting demonstrated this new cloud-native integration framework featuring a connecter for Cytiva’s UNICORN™ software for the IDBS Polar platform, an enterprise lab informatics software with ELN, LES and LIMS capabilities. This release extends our existing integration capabilities by enabling seamless end-to-end workflows for downstream purification, turning chromatography data into actionable insight. 

Starting new scientific projects can be time-consuming and resource intensive. To help customers launch projects faster, IDBS created the Polar Accelerator Library, a collection of customizable, best-practice workflows and insight applications that drive consistency, quality and efficiency from day one. Covering domains, unit operations and use cases from preclinical research through development and tech transfer, it enables teams to jumpstart projects, reduce manual configuration and accelerate progress. 

IDBS continues to empower scientists and research teams by adding to the accelerator library of workflow and insight app accelerators designed to streamline operations, improve compliance and deliver faster, high-quality data for confident decision-making.

Transforming bioanalysis oversight: Real-time insights for faster, compliant decisions. Designed to deliver faster insights, stronger compliance and greater sponsor confidence, the BioA Study Report gives study directors instant visibility into their bioanalysis operations via a dashboard where the status of all analytical runs is quickly seen including how long each has been in progress and where bottlenecks are forming, alleviating the need to chase for updates. All data is securely captured, reviewed and fully 21 CFR part 11 compliant so with Polar you always know who did what, when and why. 

Streamlining drug metabolism studies: From design to decisions with enhanced data integrity. Our latest DMPK workflow and insight accelerators standardize and streamline in vivo and in vitro drug metabolism workflows across study design, execution and insight generation, reducing manual errors and accelerating time to insight resulting in improved data quality and compliance. The DMPK Insight App enables scientists to automate calculations, structure digital processes and view cross-study comparisons for stability and outcome insights ultimately helping scientists generate high-quality, reproducible pharmacokinetic data faster for confident decision-making. 

Advancing stability studies: Operational efficiency with built-in compliance. The IDBS Polar Stability workflow accelerators streamline the setup and execution of stability studies in Polar by providing high-level campaign metrics with filterable analysis results, visual comparisons of conditions and trends, dual-axis overlays and a calendar view for sample pulls with threshold tracking. The associated Stability Insight App empowers stability study teams by providing real-time visibility into study progress, sample schedules and test results across timepoints and conditions. It supports informed decision-making and streamlines operations. 

Optimizing analytical method development: Faster insights from design to execution. Our unified digital approach simplifies method development and delivers actionable insights for clinical-phase analytical work. With structured data capture, protocol-driven assay configuration and GxP-compliant, traceable workflows in Polar, you can seamlessly transition from method design to execution and gain actionable insights. 

Enabling flexible chromatography integration: Scalable OPC workflows for multi-instrument data integrity. The recent Enterprise-scale integration for chromatography data systems supports enhancements for streamlining workflows and enhancing data quality. The latest addition to the accelerator library is an OPC Data Import modular workflow which, when used with the Preparative Chromatography accelerator, allows end users to import UNICORN data automatically into the IDBS Advance workflow technology and link results to the same location for improved data quality and streamlined operations. 

Delivering complete bioprocess oversight: From campaign summaries to detailed analytics. The BioP Study Report Insight App empowers bioprocess teams with real-time, consolidated data from cell line development through analytics, with tailored views from campaign summaries to detailed bioreactor comparisons and assay outcomes. By enabling lineage tracing, performance monitoring, trend analysis and centralized exception reporting, it delivers actionable insights to optimize processes, reduce inefficiencies, enhance data integrity and drive continuous improvement across the entire bioprocess workflow.  

Accelerating workflow creation: Scalable, audit-ready and designed for innovation. The recent EVE accelerator template empowers Advance spreadsheet builders by providing an efficient and comprehensive starting point for creating new workflows. The latest release includes several enhancements designed to improve productivity and accuracy. These improvements accelerate workflow development, increase operational efficiency and reduce manual errors, making EVE a powerful tool for Advance spreadsheet builders.

Simplifying project oversight: Real-time tracking and collaboration for alignment. Our latest release of Project Tracking Insight App provides centralized visibility into project milestones, timelines and deliverables. It helps teams monitor progress, identify bottlenecks and stay aligned across initiatives.

These innovations reinforce IDBS’s commitment to delivering end-to-end digital solutions that accelerate timelines, enhance compliance and improve data integrity across the entire drug development lifecycle. 

The opportunity for Generative AI to accelerate the drug development lifecycle and bring life-changing therapies to market faster is unprecedented. At IDBS, over the past year we have been actively developing AI technologies designed to support scientists in their day-to-day work; for example, by automatically summarizing scientific papers, highlighting key findings across multiple experiments and enabling natural-language semantic search. 

Beyond these capabilities, we are also investing in Agentic AI technology, which empowers scientists to accelerate the “Lab Loop” cycle. By learning from the outcomes of prior experiments and drawing on a wealth of trusted, contextualized and governed data delivered through our Data Backbone, IDBS’ Polar solution will be able to automatically generate and iteratively refine experimental workflows to deliver results faster. This innovative work, which has been in the proof-of-concept phase over recent months, has the potential to profoundly accelerate the drug development lifecycle. 

In parallel with designing advanced capabilities for our customers, throughout 2025 we have also been harnessing the opportunities offered by Generative AI – enhanced by the autonomous execution capabilities of Agentic AI – within our own Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). At IDBS, in partnership with Danaher’s Enterprise AI team, we have adopted tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and Atlassian Rovo, enabling our software development teams to operate with greater efficiency and productivity. Early studies indicate a productivity improvement of approximately 10% for our engineers. 

Overall, modern AI technologies offer transformative benefits, both in how IDBS builds its products and in the value those products deliver to our customers.

IDBS celebrated customer achievements in 2025, including BioIVT’s 30% reduction in study cycle times using IDBS software. We also earned a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis, a global leader in sustainability assessment, reflecting our dedication to integrating sustainable practices across operations. 

Independent market research ranked IDBS top for GxP compliance support and expertise among eight leading vendors in R&D, Preclinical CROs and Process Development. In a separate study comparing ten scientific lab data platforms, IDBS achieved the highest satisfaction and was recognized as the most widely used platform.
