Total Petrochemicals Deploys IDBS' E-WorkBook for Chemistry to Improve R&D Efficiency and Productivity

Guildford, UK, and Burlington, Mass., March 17, 2010 – IDBS, the leading worldwide provider of research data management and analytics solutions to R&D organizations, today announced that E-WorkBook for Chemistry has been adopted by Total Petrochemicals, one of the world’s leading petrochemicals producers. Total Petrochemicals has selected E-WorkBook at its R&D Center of Feluy, Belgium, to manage the diverse and complex data and Intellectual Property (IP) generated in polymer chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry to accelerate their R&D processes and to improve research efficiency.

E-WorkBook for Chemistry provides specific tools that support and simplify the day-to-day research of analytical, process, medicinal, synthetic and polymer chemists. E-WorkBook’s chemically intelligent environment manages chemistry workflows in a flexible, secure environment that allows scientists to perform powerful searches across experiments, samples and reagent databases. E-WorkBook incorporates advanced chemistry technologies including a chemically aware spreadsheet to create workflows and templates and provide data analysis.

E-WorkBook’s advanced functionality, with chemically intelligent searching and reporting combined with secure IP management, matched Total Petrochemicals’ requirements for an enterprise electronic lab notebook (ELN) for polymer and synthetic organic chemistry. Total Petrochemicals’ decision to adopt E-WorkBook was based on the flexibility and adaptability of IDBS’ chemistry technology to support custom reports and data capture. Flexible catalog based searching enables scientists to quickly find relevant information and run reports without the need to write SQL statements, giving Total Petrochemicals complete access to their data.

“E-WorkBook for Chemistry gives us a flexible, robust ELN that can integrate with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and scientific data management systems (SDMS),” said Olivier Miserque, Polyolefins Global R&D Manager at Total Petrochemicals. “This integration capability was critical to our selection process, and we are extremely pleased with our implementation of E-WorkBook.”

Neil Kipling, founder and CEO of IDBS commented: “We are delighted to be working with Total Petrochemicals to provide them with a powerful and flexible solution to fully meet their chemistry data management requirements. Total Petrochemicals’ decision to replace their legacy ELN with E-WorkBook was based on our solution’s state-of-the-art architecture and comprehensive chemistry capabilities, supported by our highly regarded professional services. Our growing chemistry customer base, with global companies like Total Petrochemicals, confirms IDBS’ position as a leader in the cheminformatics market.”
