IDBS Webinar

Streamlining molecular analysis and improving NGS/Omics collaboration through advanced data management

Presenter: Dimitris Kalaitzopoulos & Matt Gianni, IDBS

The explosion in genomic data from different molecular techniques has resulted in a typical lab or group having many different data files and result sets spread over multiple machines. The Biomolecular Hub is a data management solution that indexes metadata from all types of molecular output files and provides a database for capturing, searching and sharing genomic variant and analysis results.

By incorporating the Biomolecular Hub into an existing bioinformatics infrastructure, labs are able to support audit trails, security access models and searching of meta data for data files. Results of analysis can also be searched to identify relevant data about a particular gene or variant from all internal data, as well as external information such as GEO.

You will learn how to:

  • File systems with a low administration and maintenance overhead
  • Store and manage any type of file from both Microarray-based and Next Generation Sequencing experiments, CEL, CDF, BAM
  • Manage large un-coordinated, FastQ meaning they can be easily tracked and audited
  • Store and manage analysis results that can be queried by their associated metadata and measurements so researchers can easily find relevant data and files
  • Store and manage genetic features, including SNP, SNV, CNV (Duplication, Deletion), Insertion (Transposition), Inversion so that researchers can quickly get an overview of all relevant variants
